It would seem simple: if you want to have good content, a person who will do it is a necessity, not a luxury. But we have several reasons to prove otherwise.
First of all, we at Kiwi Agency SMM agency work with very diverse clients. These are FMCG brands, cosmetics, health&care, and the real estate market. Obviously, a toilet paper brand and a property developer need a different approach to content creation. What is there to say - see for yourself:
1) FMCG. For clients from this field we usually do two kinds of shoots: product shoots and studio shoots with models. If you have a small budget, of course, you can combine these shoots and bring in a photographer who can shoot both product photography and photos with models (we have this experience, and even a very successful one). But a better option would be to delegate the subject matter to a professional who does that, and for model photos find a proper studio and a professional in portrait photography. We usually do one shoot for 2-3 months, this content is enough for the period.
A few examples of our FMCG-branded photos:
2) Cosmetics. There are an incredible number of formats for shooting cosmetics: portraits, beauty (with complicated makeup and hairstyles), photos for a website or marketplace (Amazon, Ebay, etc.), and, of course, the much-mentioned subjects. And you won't believe it: each of these types needs a different photographer. For example, for one well-known cosmetics brand we have done 8 shoots in 3 months, and almost each of them required a different photographer. All because there are nuances with the light, the studio, the models, the plans (near/far). It's also worth mentioning that when working with cosmetic brands, a retoucher will be an obligatory part of your team (although 90% of the time, photographers retouch part of the shots, it's not enough).
Sharing examples of such content:
3) Real estate. As in other areas, there may be various types of shots here too, and the scale is often different: progress of construction, flying over the object by drone and augmented reality shooting, 360 degree photos, family photos with models to convey atmosphere and comfort, photos of houses themselves, interior shooting.
As practice has shown, a good smartphone camera is often enough for the progress of construction, especially if this report is published in Stories. This is so-called "fast food" content, which aims to quickly show the pace of construction, but not to provoke a certain emotion or action. Creating an image shoot naturally requires a completely different level with professional techniques and skills (working with visualisations, graphics).
Our work for the real estate segment
4) Health&Care. These are clinics, SPA complexes, beauty-professionals (beauticians, nail service, eyebrows, massage therapists). At Kiwi Agency, we worked more often with the first two areas. If for clinics previously stock content was the norm, now there is a trend to create Kraft content for this niche as well. For example, there are shots of doctors, process of work (dentistry, cosmetology, ophthalmology), there is also a subject shoot for a variety of Instagram feeds. This is where it's appropriate to combine content shot on a phone, professional shots and even stock images (but only in limited quantities). It all depends on the visual concept you choose for your account.
Examples of our shoots for this area:
Generally speaking, content production is a separate world in the digital universe, where each shoot is special and unique, where requests and contractors are completely different, and where the cost can vary from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars. That is why we believe that for our projects there is no universal photographer who can do well in all of the above areas. And the best option is to work with cool specialists in their respective niches.
